Last week was a pretty bad week for the unit. It's like everyday was something negative. We've had more problems last week than we've had in years. This gay guy got into it with a Mexican guy and the gay guy stabbed the Mexican guy a few times. An officer got stabbed a few times. Some say the officer didn't follow protocol when dealing with an inmate in segregation. He was never supposed to be alone with an inmate of that custody level.
Two inmates were fighting Saturday. An officer tried to break it up and he ended up in a chokehold. When it was all said and done, one inmate was stabbed, a couple officers were assaulyed, my boss man fell down the stairs and one officer almost fell off of three row.
First thing Sunday morning, an officer got assaulted right after breakfast. Yesterday, a female sergeant on the building got dashed in the face with urine by an inmate. Then on her way back from changing clothes, she walks right into an inmate refusing to comply situation. He was drunk and belligerent, so the tussle begins. They spray him in the face with mace and finally wrestle him to the ground. So now in her new clothes, she has to walk around with mace on her. I guess when the choices are mace and piss, we go with mace.
With the job I have, I work around the officers a lot. I have really gotten to see their side of things. I used to think the job they was the easiest s#$% ever. It's really headache dealing with hundreds and sometimes thousands of adult babies who drink, smoke and fight. I've seen guys burn everything in their cells over a peanut butter sandwich. This is a hectic place to work or live.
You have to be strong to maintain no matter which end you're on. I can see how it makes officers hate certain groups of people. It's wrong to hate, but it happens. Just imagine if you were spit on, s#$% on, assaulted and not to mention verbally abused by a group of people everyday. You might start to hate them. Inmates deal with the same thing from the officers minus the bodily fluids. So this place is just full of hate a lot of the time. PRAY FOR US.

I wish they would just value their lives and just do their time as peacefully as possible. I know it's easier said than done but even my husband has some horror stories, but he too gets to see both sides since he too works daily, and he too can understand what the guards endure. I pray for your sanity and strength BIL.
